Saturday night at home

I thought that this stamp set (Million Dollar Moments) was so neat from the first time I saw it.  But it seemed to also be a bit wistful, especially when you look at the the tilt of the heads on the geese.

Then, I couldn't help myself, I found some of the older Graphic 45 paper and had to make this card.

Class on 2/23

There were 8 of us last Saturday night and we made a number of cards.  We started off by using the scallop envelop sizzix die to make presentation boxes for some 3x3 cards.

People had two different types of cards to choose from.  The firt three shown here were made from the Stampin Up Moving Forward.

The second set of cards were made from Bloomin! Marvelous, a set available in the Sale-a-bration catalog (until March 22).







I think that my favorite of all six was this one....

 Then we made a fast and simple card that seemed quite effective using Midnight Muse ink on very vanilla card stock.  The Swallowtail Butterfly is familiar to everyone but I can't help showing yo what we did with it.

Our next card was using the Vine Street folder from Sale-a-brations along with the stamps and Framelits from the Secret Garden set.  Obviously this took a bit more time to put together, some folks decided to stamp their flowers and others cut out the flowers from printed paper.

It was fun to see how people put together the last card.  Bex put her flowers and ribbon on a diagonal.  This was the original intent, a bit less inspired ...

I made a number of things for Valentine's Day this year including cards.... but gave them away without taking pictures!  Hmmm.  This is the last one in the house...I challenged myself to use nothing but StampinUp! paper, ink, and stamps.

The Shower

The storm forced us to postpone the shower one week... from my view it means that I have a chance to post everything together (I am a just in time crafter... which means I would usually have worked to the last minute on getting everything ready. No time to create a post on the creations.)

So here are images of the invitations....

Then I dithered about the favors.  What to make - what to make?  Margaret prefers gender neutral but the original date was the Saturday before Valentine's Day.

I thought - who wouldn't want a heart shaped box of chocolates, right?  But then, they seemed to be turning out to more gender specific (oops, unintended crafting).

More dithering! What if people don't want chocolate (I know, I know.  That seems unbelievable, but there are some people out there who avoid chocolate!).  Shabby chic clothes pin photo holders?  

Hmmm, probably need to have something to record who is there.




Would it make sense to have a mini album for people to write notes of encouragement?

And, oh yeah.  Decorations.  Pin Wheels in the Cupcakes...

And then, the thank you notes.  Good grief!  Too many things.

Can you tell that I am overly jittery waiting for this first grandchild.

Oh my goodness. So silly.

Shower cards

I made invitations for Margaret's shower using a variety of things to suggest rain  - paper with umbrellas and an embossing folder with clouds.  The thing that might be confusing is the choice of pinwheels.  I love the new sizzlit die that cuts them out and adds tiny little holes for the brad...but you might be wondering why I put them on these cards.  Well, have you ever seen pinwheels as yard decorations?  Right before a summer shower, the wind kicks up a bit and they start to turn like crazy.

And since I follow the paper when I start making cards, no two ever seem to end up looking the same.  I made 25 invitations and each one is a bit different.

Now I am working on the rest of the things for the shower... a thank you gift and thank you cards.  I used a paper textured with fiber in the Sizzix Bigz Pro CUpcake die box to fill them with 3x3 notecards. Unfortunately the fiber is pulling away from the various adhesives I've tried.  I thought that maybe jute ribbon could wrap the box and keep the joints tight but I am not liking the look.  I'll post pictures if I figure it out.

Giving into frustration with the boxes I started messing around with thank you cards.  These use Spellbinder's Wonderful Wings Butterflies, some doilies and a Sizzix thinlit, Butterflies-flower-vine flourish. After I took these photos, I added a string of flat backed pearls on the line between the doily and the patterned paper.
